Endometriosis Diagnosis in Dublin—The Endotest Saliva Test

If you’ve spent years being told your pain is “just bad periods,” you shouldn’t have to wait years more for answers. At Ellwood Clinic in Dublin, you can now get tested for endometriosis with Endotest, a non-invasive test that needs nothing more than a saliva sample. There’s no surgery, no general anesthetic, and no hospital stay. You provide your sample at our clinic; it’s analysed in a specialist laboratory, and your results are reviewed with you by one of our doctors. For many women, it’s the fastest route to a clear endometriosis diagnosis they’ve ever been offered.

What is Ziwig Endotest®?

Ziwig Endotest® is a CE-marked diagnostic test developed to detect endometriosis from a saliva sample. Rather than looking for visible lesions during surgery, the test analyses microRNA, small genetic markers present in saliva and uses an AI-trained algorithm to identify the signature patterns associated with endometriosis.

It’s designed for women who have symptoms suggestive of endometriosis but no confirmed diagnosis, and it’s intended to be used alongside your clinical history and imaging, not as a replacement for medical assessment.

How the Endometriosis Saliva Test Works

  1. Consultation. You meet one of our women’s health doctors to review your symptoms, history, and whether Endotest is appropriate for you. Consultation is not mandatory and can be requested and booked separately upon request.
  2. Sample collection. You provide a saliva sample at our Dublin clinic. It takes a few minutes and requires no fasting, no needles, and no downtime.
  3. Laboratory analysis. Your sample is sent to the Ziwig laboratory for sequencing and analysis.
  4. Results of your test. Once your sample has been processed by the laboratory, we will send your results directly to you. If you wish to discuss your results, you can book a separate Women’s Health Consultation with our doctor to review the findings and plan your next steps, whatever the outcome.

Why Patients Choose Endotest

  • A genuinely non-invasive test—no laparoscopy, no anesthetic, no surgical recovery
  • Fast—results are typically available within approximately 4 weeks, helping you move forward with greater clarity rather than facing years of uncertainty around an endometriosis diagnosis.
  • Simple to do—it’s a saliva sample, sometimes described in plain language as a hormone spit test, though Endotest actually reads genetic markers rather than hormone levels
  • Suitable when surgery isn’t an option for women who can’t or don’t want to undergo laparoscopy
  • Clinically supported—every Endotest at Ellwood is booked, explained, and interpreted by a doctor
  • Doctor-led aftercare—a positive or negative result comes with a clear plan, not a leaflet

Who Should Consider Getting Tested?

Endotest may be right for you if you experience:

  • Severe or worsening period pain that interferes with work or daily life
  • Chronic pelvic pain outside your period
  • Heavy or irregular bleeding
  • Pain related to bowel or bladder function during menstruation
  • Difficulty conceiving with no clear explanation
  • Symptoms that have been repeatedly dismissed or misattributed

An endometriosis diagnosis test isn’t suitable for everyone. For example, certain criteria may apply, including current pregnancy, age range, or other individual circumstances. Our team will confirm your eligibility during your first consultation.
